forgotten memory
Tomoe is the older sister of Enishi
Yukishiro. In Edo, Tomoe was engaged
to a man named Kiyosato Akira, a
childhood friend, whom she was in
love with. However, Tomoe's cold and
calm disposition lead her fiance to
believe that she was not content with
his position as the next successor of
a Shogunate family. Therefore, he
decided to leave for Kyoto, to prove
to her that he was a warrior worthy of
her love. Unfortunately, Akira was
murdered by The Battousai and in hear-
ing of the tragedy, Tomoe decided to
leave for Kyoto to avenge her fiance's
death by finding a way to kill The
Battousai. With revenge on her mind,
she agreed to be The Yaminobu's spy.
Her mission was to find a way to get
near The Battousai, so that she may
seek out his weakness. Eventually,
Tomoe came to learn that the fearsome
Hitokiri Battousai was only a 15 year
old boy who hides behind the mask of
an assasin. She became more concerned
with the boy and finally helped
Kenshin to gain back happiness.
Kenshin knew Tomoe was the only
person who understood and cared about
him, so his emotions became dependant
on her. When he found out she was a
traitor aiding in an attempt on his
life and his informant gave him her
whereabouts to see for himself Kenshin
made a long trek thru a snowy wood
and was ambushed several times by men
from the Yaminobu. Since Kenshin was
overcome with so many emotions upon
finding out that the love of his life
was actually a spy and that her
intention was assassination he was
distracted and therefore badly wound-
ed by the time he got to their leader.
During their fight Tomoe, having
actually fallen in love with Kenshin
over the time they'd spent together
tried to stop the leader from stabbing
Kenshin. Kenshin, not having realized
that she'd gotten between them, followed
thru with his attack accidentally killed
Tomoe along with the leader in that
single stroke. Tomoe's little brother
Enishi was watching from behind a tree
in shock. As Tomoe lied dieing in
Kenshin's lap they stared at each
other but said nothing... she brought
the knife she had pulled out of the
leaders hands to Kenshin's face and
made the second scar on his cheek...
then she died. After her body had been
laid down in preparation for burial
Kenshin sat by her and promised
that soon he would kill no more...
